Submissions

Types of Papers to Submit

The Houston Journal of International Law publishes high-quality articles, comments, recent development notes, essays, and book reviews written by attorneys, professors, and students on timely international legal issues.  In addition to traditional, full-length articles, we publish shorter articles concerning new and developing areas of international law for our Recent Developments section of each issue.  These articles are typically around 2,500-5,000 words and should be fully referenced and formatted in the same manner as a full-length article.  The Journal publishes articles on all aspects of public and private international law.  Additionally, each year we devote one of our three issues to developments in the energy industry. We welcome recent development articles from attorneys practicing in this dynamic area of law and commerce.

To be eligible for the James Baker Hughes Prize, the manuscript must be written by a law student and must be on a topic of international economic law.
