"I am pleased to be writing this introductory letter for the first issue of the Houston Journal of International Law.  I think it is extremely important for readers to be aware that this publication is the product of interest, labor, and persistence of a small group of dedicated students.  Their industry has produced not only the majority of its contents but the major portion of its funding.  They are due congratulations in ever respect."

With these words, Dean Hardy introduced the very first issue of the Houston Journal of International Law.  His words are no less accurate in describing the effort and persistence shown by a small group of students dedicated to changing the look and feel of our online presence.  First and foremost responsible for this change was Steven Pershern, who took it upon himself to create what you see here today.  Additionally, Brian Rose kept this project one of the primary goals for his term as Managing Editor, and his determination that it would be completed kept it from being an unfinished work.  Finally, as our Editor-in-Chief, Marty Hopkins was invaluable in providing insight and direction.

As for myself, I am happy to have been here to put the pieces together and leave what we, as the Editors of Board 30, hope will be a look and feel for the Journal that will be here for many years to come.  Our goal for this site has been to focus on the future of the Journal, but also to reconnect with the past.  To that end, we have added the mastheads for all the past Boards, and we hope to expand our collection of articles online to include earlier volumes.  Please feel free to look around and tell us if you like what you see.
