Dean George W. Hardy III noted in his introduction to the Journal’s first issue that “this publication is the product of interest, labor, and persistence of a small group of dedicated students. Their industry has produced not only its contents but the major portion of its funding.” As both the quality and reputation of the Journal have increased throughout its 44 years of publication, so too have its operational costs.

Although the Journal is a student-run organization at the University of Houston Law Center, it receives guaranteed funding from neither the Law Center nor the University of Houston. Contributions to the Journal assist in relieving financial pressures and thereby enable editors and candidates to dedicate themselves wholly to elevating the Journal’s quality, productivity, and standing. Without the financial support of its generous benefactors, the Journal would be unable to serve the local, national, and international legal communities through its publications.
